Risk Disclosures & SEBI Disclaimer
Version 2026-05 · Effective: 27 May 2026
OptionLab Pro is a technology and data analysis tool, not a SEBI-registered Research Analyst, Investment Adviser, Portfolio Manager, or stockbroker. Every signal, score, scanner output, backtest result, and chart annotation on this platform is the output of an algorithm operating on public market data. None of it constitutes investment advice, a personalised recommendation, a research report, or a solicitation to buy or sell any security or derivative.
This page is the single, consolidated statement of risk and regulatory disclosure for the OptionLab Pro service. It is binding alongside the Terms of Service and the Privacy Policy. By using the platform you acknowledge that you have read and understood the disclosures below.
1. Regulatory Status — Non-Registration
OptionLab Pro is not registered with the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) under any of the following regulations or in any of the following capacities:
- SEBI (Research Analysts) Regulations, 2014 — we are not a Research Analyst.
- SEBI (Investment Advisers) Regulations, 2013 — we are not an Investment Adviser.
- SEBI (Portfolio Managers) Regulations, 2020 — we do not offer portfolio management services.
- SEBI (Stock Brokers) Regulations, 1992 — we are not a stockbroker or trading member of NSE, BSE, MCX, or any other exchange.
We do not issue buy/sell tips, target prices, stop-loss recommendations, or personalised investment advice. We do not execute orders on your behalf — when you enable the auto-trade feature on the Elite plan, the platform forwards instructions using your own broker API credentials to your own broker account, and you remain solely responsible for every order.
2. Nature of Signals on This Platform
A signal on OptionLab Pro is the output of a deterministic algorithm that combines three engines — an indicator confluence engine, a candlestick pattern engine, and a Smart Money Concepts (SMC) structural engine — and emits a category (BUY / SELL / CONFLICT / NEUTRAL) plus a probability score. It reflects only the state of public market data at a moment in time and a fixed set of statistical rules. It does not consider your financial position, risk tolerance, investment horizon, tax situation, or any other personal circumstance.
- Signals are not personalised. Every user looking at the same symbol on the same timeframe sees the same signal.
- Signals are generated by code. They do not represent the opinion of any human analyst, researcher, or adviser.
- Signal probability is a statistical estimate derived from historical price data, not a forecast of profit.
- The platform makes no guarantee of accuracy, profitability, completeness, or fitness for any purpose.
- Backtest results are simulations on historical data with idealised execution. Real-world results will differ materially.
3. Market & Derivatives Risk
Trading in securities, futures, and options carries a substantial risk of financial loss. Options trading in particular involves leverage and can result in losses that exceed the premium paid (in the case of writers/sellers) or 100% loss of premium (in the case of buyers). The Indian equity derivatives market regularly produces large intraday moves driven by global cues, macro events, RBI policy, FII/DII flows, and stock-specific news — none of which are predictable by any algorithm with certainty.
Specific risks you must understand before trading:
- Capital loss. You can lose your entire trading capital. Never trade money you cannot afford to lose.
- Leverage. Options magnify both gains and losses. A small adverse move can wipe out a large position.
- Time decay (theta). Long option premiums decay every day. Even a correct directional view can lose money if the move is too slow.
- Liquidity risk. Out-of-the-money options and far-month contracts may have wide bid-ask spreads or no buyers at all.
- Gap risk. Indian markets can gap significantly on global cues or news. Stop-losses do not protect against gaps.
- Execution risk. Broker outages, exchange halts, internet failures, and slippage are real and recurring.
- Tax risk. Trading gains are taxable. STT, GST, exchange charges, and brokerage erode net returns materially.
4. Limitations of Algorithmic Signals
The algorithms powering OptionLab Pro are built on indicators (RSI, MACD, EMA, ATR, VWAP, ADX, OBV, Bollinger Bands), candlestick pattern detection (Bulkowski-classified patterns with regime context), and structural Smart Money Concepts (Wyckoff phases, Break of Structure, Order Blocks, Fair Value Gaps). These methods have known statistical edges in some market conditions and well-documented failure modes in others.
Known limits you should internalise:
- Indicators lag by design — they confirm what has already moved.
- Pattern detection is probabilistic, not deterministic. A "Bullish Engulfing" does not guarantee an up-move.
- Backtests cannot replicate live slippage, partial fills, broker rejects, and exchange throttles.
- Past performance — backtested or live — does not predict future returns.
- Signal frequency badges shown on charts are illustrative client-side estimates, not actual signal counts.
5. Past Performance Disclaimer
Any backtest result, win-rate figure, P&L curve, equity chart, or historical statistic displayed on the platform is a simulation of how the algorithm would have performed on past market data under stated assumptions. Backtest performance is not indicative of future results. The same strategy run in live markets may produce materially different — and often substantially worse — outcomes due to slippage, commissions, market impact, broker latency, news events, and regime changes that the historical window did not contain.
6. Your Responsibilities
By using OptionLab Pro you agree that:
- Every trading and investment decision is made solely by you.
- You will not treat any signal, score, or output of this platform as personalised investment advice.
- You have read and understood the inherent risks of trading securities and derivatives in India.
- You will consult a SEBI-registered Investment Adviser for any personalised investment advice.
- You will not hold OptionLab Pro, its owners, employees, contractors, or agents liable for any trading losses you incur.
- You meet the eligibility criteria set out in the Terms of Service, including being at least 18 years of age and legally permitted to trade in your jurisdiction.
7. Conflicts of Interest
The owners, employees, and contractors of OptionLab Pro may personally trade Indian securities and derivatives, including instruments covered by the platform's signals. Personal trading by team members is not coordinated with platform output and does not constitute an endorsement. We do not receive payment from any exchange, broker, issuer, or third party in exchange for favourable signal coverage of any instrument.
We do receive technology integration support from broker partners (e.g., API access for the auto-trade feature). This does not influence which brokers we cascade market data from or how signals are computed.
8. Data Sources
Market data displayed on the platform — candles, option chains, quotes — is sourced from a cascade of broker APIs and public market data providers (Dhan, Shoonya, Zerodha, Angel One, Fyers, Groww, Upstox, NSE public endpoints, yfinance). We perform automated sanitisation (OHLC geometry, time normalisation) but do not warrant the accuracy or completeness of upstream data. Errors, delays, or gaps in upstream feeds can and do affect signal output.
9. Auto-Trade Feature (Elite Plan)
The auto-trade feature is offered to Elite-plan subscribers and uses your own broker API credentials to send order instructions to your own broker account. OptionLab Pro is not the broker and does not custody your funds or securities. Specific additional risks:
- You are responsible for setting appropriate position limits, margin levels, and order types in your broker account before enabling auto-trade.
- Software bugs, network issues, broker API rate limits, and exchange halts can all cause orders to fail, partially fill, or execute at unintended prices.
- Auto-trade is experimental. You should monitor every position independently and not rely on the platform to manage risk for you.
- You can disable auto-trade and revoke API credentials at any time from the API Setup screen.
10. Educational Content (Academy)
The Academy module (lessons, quizzes, scripted explainers) is provided for education and skill-building purposes only. Lesson content describes how indicators, candle patterns, and SMC concepts work in general terms. No lesson, video, or quiz constitutes investment advice or a recommendation to trade any specific instrument.
